We are so excited to announce our collaboration with The Buttermilk Company! We contributed our Baingan Bharta recipe from The Healthy Indian Food Cookbook to the Buttermilk team to create a limited edition Baingan Bharta product for their July Release!

My mom and I are honored to make authentic, healthy Indian food even easier to bring to your homes. I’m personally so thankful to Mitra and her team for making my mother’s cooking available to so many more people.

Our Collaboration:

This collaboration had been months in making before we were able to release it to the public. Not to mention that there were 2 weddings (both Mitra and I got married this year!) that were celebrated in the process of developing this product.

After Mitra reached out to us to collaborate, the first step was to choose what recipe would be a great fit for The Buttermilk brand. Many favorites such as upma, poha, and pav bhaji had already been created by the team, so we needed another popular dish to fill people’s tummies.

Turns out, eggplants were the answer. The Buttermilk team decided on Baingan Bharta, as it was a highly requested item from their customers.

What is Baingan Bharta?

Baingan Bharta is smooth, creamy eggplant curry that is roasted and then stir-fried with tomatoes, onions, and other aromatic spices. It’s one of our favorites, as it pairs well with roti, rice, curries, and so much more. Eggplant is also rich in nutrients, high in antioxidants, and low in calories, making Baingan Bharta a delicious and healthy meal.

Though most of the recipes in our cookbook are straightforward and quick, Baingan Bharta is more time-consuming due to the roasting and stir-fry process. We are so excited to turn this recipe into a Buttermilk product that takes less than 5 minutes to make!

The product is VERY fresh (there are no preservatives or additives at all!), and we love how it tastes like a home-cooked meal. Since it is fresh, the Baingan Bharta should be refrigerated or frozen before consuming.

The limited edition Baingan Bharta is only available for the month of July, so head to The Buttermilk Company to stock up before it’s gone :).

This collaboration means so much more than food to us. It’s incredible to see teams of talented South Asian women empower other South Asians to connect with our culture.
